Baseband refers to the original Frequency range (Band) of a Signal before it is modulated onto a Carrier Wave. In a Receiver, the incoming RF signal is mixed down to baseband for processing, centering the signal of interest around 0 Hz. In digital systems, baseband signals are represented as IQ data.
