Vector Projection

“The vector projection of B onto A”¹

Scalar Projection

“The scalar projection of B onto A” This is just the magnitude of the Vector Projection. Hence “scalar”

$${\text{proj}}_{\vec{A}}\vec{B}=\vec{B}\cdot \hat{A}$$
